Meet Toby

Toby Barrett is MPP for Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant Toby's Agriculture Critic for Official Opposition and sits on the Finance Committee.

First elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1995, he was re-elected in 1999 and 2003.

Mr. Barrett has a Masters of Science degree from the Ontario Agricultural College and a degree in Economics from the University of Guelph.

A former teacher of high school Agriculture and Environmental Science, he is a partner in his Norfolk County family farm. For 20 years he worked for the Ontario Addiction Research Foundation.

In 1993, Toby was awarded the Canada 125 medal for outstanding community service - and in 2003 received the Queens Jubilee Medal.

He and his wife, Cari, live on the family farm near Port Dover. They have three children - Shawn, Brett and Brittany. Toby has, in the past, travelled in over 50 countries.

During his ten years, Toby Barrett has chaired the Committee on Regulations and Private Bills as well as the Justice Committee. He has served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Ministries of Environment; Natural Resources; and Agriculture.

In Opposition, he has served as Environment Critic; presently he is Agriculture Critic and a member of the Finance Committee.
